Turns out that "Gussie" is a dude. A handsome fella. His new people spent several hours between gusts during hurricane Gustav trying to rescue him and bring him inside. A very lucky kitty. He warmed up to everyone quickly and is enjoying the good life with new best buddy Smoke with whom he spends most of his day curled up and sleeping on the porch.
